The latest update for the New Nest Thermostat (4th Gen) includes improvements to address low brightness issues.

The new Nest Thermostat (4th Gen) is a stunning addition to any wall with its elegant design, large new display, and enhanced features. In my testing, I found it to be a significant upgrade from my old Nest Thermostat E. However, some users, including myself, have noticed that the screen brightness on the new Nest Thermostat (4th Gen) can be lower than desired at times.

Google and Nest have announced a software update that allows users to optimize the screen brightness on the 4th generation unit. If the automatic adjustment still doesn’t meet your preferences, you can manually adjust the brightness to your liking.

The software update will be rolled out automatically to units over the next few weeks, so if you don’t see it right away, don’t worry. If you want to manually check for the update, you can find the settings under Device Settings > Display Brightness. From there, you can choose between Auto or Manual brightness settings, with Manual allowing you to adjust the brightness level up to 100.
