Vivo announced last year that it would be introducing a mixed reality headset, and recently at the Boao Forum for Asia, the company revealed the design of the Vision headset. The design appears to be a sleeker version of the Apple Vision Pro, but details such as weight and materials used have not been disclosed yet.
Vivo plans to unveil the prototype in mid-2025, but has not shared much information beyond that. The headset is part of Vivo’s strategy to enhance its real-time spatial computing capabilities for future consumer robotics applications. Alongside the design showcase, Vivo is also establishing a new robotics laboratory in China.
The new robotics laboratory will enable Vivo to develop the “brain” and “eyes” of robots, leveraging its expertise in AI and imaging. Known for its imaging capabilities, Vivo’s X200 Pro is currently considered the top camera phone. It will be intriguing to see how Vivo applies these strengths to robotics.
On the phone front, Vivo has teased the upcoming X200 Ultra set to be unveiled in April. With hints about its camera modules already out, previous leaks have provided insights into its capabilities. Having tested other flagship phones, anticipation is high to see how the X200 Ultra compares and if it can outshine its predecessor, the X100 Ultra.
It’s likely that the X200 Ultra may only launch in China, similar to its predecessor. More details about the device, as well as the Vivo Vision headset, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
