Samsung has been showcasing a smart home robot named “Ballie” since at least 2020, initially as a playful concept. The concept behind Ballie was to introduce a robotic pet into your home that could assist with various tasks such as caring for your dog, serving as a security camera, projecting screens, and controlling your smart home. While these were just ideas in 2024, Ballie is set to become a reality in 2025, although likely different from its initial concept.
Following a debut at CES 2025 and the announcement of a summer launch with Gemini integration at Google Cloud Next 2025, Samsung revealed that Ballie will offer conversational interactions to help manage home environments. With the ability to adjust lighting, greet guests, personalize schedules, set reminders, and more, Ballie will navigate around your home on its wheels, powered by Google’s multimodal AI and Samsung’s AI technology.
In addition to basic assistant functions, Ballie will provide styling recommendations and tailored advice based on user queries. While this may sound intriguing, the actual capabilities of Ballie may differ from what was showcased in a video released at CES 2024.
The cost of Ballie has not been disclosed by Samsung, but considering Amazon’s Astro robot priced at $1,600, Ballie may also come at a premium. Those interested can sign up on Samsung’s website for updates on the launch.
