To wrap up the week, Samsung revealed some new features coming to the Galaxy Buds 3 series with the next major One UI update.
In a press release, Samsung explained that its One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro aims to offer the best “audio experience” for users. The company is also focusing on making the audio more “intelligent.” One of the new features highlighted is Tailor Sound, which addresses personal hearing needs by expanding ambient sound capabilities in the Adapt Sound tool.
Samsung claims this enhancement will make listening to music and other audio more precise and clear, especially during video or voice calls. It’s important to note that the Adaptive Sound feature is exclusive to the Buds 3 Pro.
In a follow-up blog post, Samsung mentioned the introduction of an “advanced hearing test” to create a personalized sound profile for users. For those who prefer not to go through the test, Samsung will provide three preset profiles to choose from.
Furthermore, Samsung introduced upgraded optimized sound functionality for the Galaxy Buds 3 series. The post explains that the microphones in the Buds will analyze external and internal sounds to optimize what users hear and improve ANC (active noise cancellation) capabilities. The Adaptive Noise Control feature automatically adjusts sound based on surroundings without user input.
The One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Buds 3 series also includes quality of life (QoL) improvements. Users will now be able to personalize audio settings for specific apps through the Quick Settings Panel. Samsung mentions that these customized settings will be automatically applied when the corresponding app is opened.
The Quick Settings Panel on Galaxy phones will now have access to the Galaxy Wearables app, allowing users to adjust wearable settings directly from their phone without opening a separate app. Additionally, the One UI 7 update introduces improved language translation support through Galaxy AI Listening Mode, offering translations in 20 additional languages during conversations with speakers of different native languages.
Unfortunately, Samsung has not provided a specific timeline for the release of One UI 7 on smartphones. The operating system has faced delays recently, particularly due to issues with the “Natural” mode screen optimization feature causing screen discoloration. Samsung had to retract a patch to address this issue, which was followed by the release of One UI 7 Beta 5 in mid-February with additional fixes and a solution for a Visual Voicemail app crash bug.
In a blog post, Samsung mentioned that One UI 7 would be arriving “soon,” with an initial target of Q1 2025 for Galaxy devices, narrowing the window down to March.
