Pixel 10 Color Confusion: A Surprising Twist!

June tends to be a slow month in the Android world, with few device launches, the Google I/O event behind us, and mostly rumors and leaks filling the void. This week, the Pixel 10 series takes center stage, and information seems to be changing rapidly. While it’s hard to know what to believe, there’s certainly some intriguing news to discuss.

Before diving in, if you missed the hardware leak regarding the Pixel 10 Pro, be sure to check it out first.

In the latest update, we’re navigating a bit of color name confusion, simply because we can. The names that were previously reported didn’t seem quite right, so we’re getting picky about what they might officially be called—even if the colors themselves aren’t actually different. Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

The Pixel 10 series is set to launch in the following official colors:

  • Pixel 10: Ultra Blue, Limoncello, Iris, Midnight
  • Pixel 10 Pro: Sterling Gray, Light Porcelain, Midnight, Smoky Green
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL: Sterling Gray, Light Porcelain, Midnight, Smoky Green
  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Sterling Gray, Smoky Green

Wait, aren’t these the same colors mentioned about a week ago? Yes, but these are the proposed official names. While the differences may be subtle, it appears Google is replacing “Obsidian” with “Midnight” for black. Some have speculated that “Porcelain” is being dropped for the Pro models, but “Light Porcelain” is listed—it’s still Porcelain! Moreover, “Green” is now “Smoky Green,” and “Blue” has become “Ultra Blue.”

I have my reservations about some of these names, but let’s have some fun debating them.

Lastly, for those who missed it, the Pixel 10 launch date was recently corrected. Currently, it’s set for August 20, at least until any further changes arise.
