Joined by several content creators, Mohan elaborated on integrating Google’s latest video generation model, Veo 3, into Shorts. He believes this integration will “open new creative avenues” for both budding and established content creators.

Mohan indicated that YouTube intends to fully incorporate Google’s Veo 3 model into its Short environment “later this summer.”

YouTube appears to be highly focused on its creators, considering the potential applications for Veo 3. Mohan noted, “the possibilities with AI are limitless,” adding that “creators will transform formats, blend genres, and delve deeper into the mainstream.”

Initially, at the Made by YouTube event in September 2024, the platform outlined its plans to integrate Google’s Veo into Shorts. This model would utilize its ability to understand “natural language” for video generation. At that time, YouTube mentioned that the AI model could create backgrounds and generate “concepts that were once impossible to visualize.” It was indicated that the AI would be limited to producing clips of six seconds each.

Google’s Veo was set to debut on YouTube late last year, bringing these features to creators within Shorts.

AI-generated backgrounds were also included in YouTube’s Dream Screen, which utilized Veo. The confirmation of Veo 3 is promising, as it represents Google’s latest model introduced during I/O 2025. The announcement highlighted Veo 3’s audio features, although Google specified that those could be accessed via its Google AI Ultra subscription.
