Google Messages Introduces “Delete for Everyone” Feature in Groups

We’ve all been there—sending a message with typos or accidentally to the wrong chat can be embarrassing. Fortunately, many messaging platforms offer a “delete for everyone” feature, and Telegram is one. Now, it seems Google Messages is introducing a similar option through RCS.

According to a recent find on Reddit, some beta users have discovered this feature in select group chats. When attempting to delete a message, they see two options: “Delete for me” and “Delete for everyone.” The latter is the exciting new feature that enables users to remove a message from the group entirely.

As this is an RCS feature, it’s likely that all participants in the group must also have RCS for it to function properly. Unfortunately, access appears to be limited, and finding a group chat with RCS adoption may be challenging as it rolls out slowly. However, soon you might be able to erase those embarrassing mistakes without concern. Just a note: messages may still be visible to others on older app versions, as shown in the screenshot below.

Google Messages - Delete from Group

Feel free to test the feature by attempting to delete a message from a group. If you don’t see the option, consider joining the Google Messages beta, linked below.
