The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event from Samsung may be returning to New York.

What you need to know

  • Samsung is reportedly hosting its Galaxy Unpacked event in NYC this July, deviating from its usual timeline.
  • This event will mark the return of Samsung’s foldable launch to NYC after almost three years, with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 being the last in 2022.
  • Mass production of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 is expected to start in May, paving the way for their debut in July.

A recent report from South Korea suggests that Samsung is planning to hold its summer Galaxy Unpacked event in New York in July.

According to The JoongAng Daily, Samsung is moving up its Galaxy Unpacked event schedule, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 set to make their debut in early July.

If this report is correct, it will signify a significant change in Samsung’s summer plans and mark the first foldable event in NYC since 2022.

Last year, Samsung revealed its foldable phones in Paris on July 10. However, the exact date for this year’s event is still unknown.

An earlier report from South Korea’s The Bell suggests that Samsung will start mass production of its upcoming foldable devices in May. This news reportedly comes from Samsung Display, the screen manufacturer. If this timeline holds true, it indicates that Samsung is gearing up for the new foldables to hit the market soon.

The rumored May production start aligns well with the buzz about a July launch. The original report hints at a foldable launch in the “latter half of the year.” Therefore, it seems likely that Samsung is preparing for another significant Galaxy Unpacked event.

Upgrades incoming

Rumors surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 suggest significant improvements over their predecessors, the Fold 6 and Flip 6. Reports indicate various upgrades and enhancements across the board.

Given the advancements in technology, it would be surprising if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 do not feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Additionally, the Z Fold 7 is expected to receive camera upgrades and a slimmer design.

Alongside the foldable devices, the July event is likely to introduce a new Galaxy Watch, Samsung’s Android XR headset, and provide early glimpses of the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the rumored “tri-fold” device.
