YouTube Premium Users Gain Access to New AI-Powered Feature, While Free Users Keep Current Offerings.

If you’re a YouTube Premium subscriber, watch for an exciting new AI feature launching this week. Non-Premium users will also gain access to the platform’s existing conversational AI capabilities.

For Premium users, there’s an innovative AI carousel being introduced in search results. YouTube describes it as an excellent tool for quickly uncovering valuable content. For example, if you search for “best beaches in Hawaii,” you might see an AI-generated carousel showcasing clips from videos that highlight the best snorkeling spots and volcanic beaches, complete with descriptions and links to more videos to help you plan your perfect day.

You can check out a demonstration of the new carousel below.

Current Premium users are already familiar with the Gemini button featured on videos, but this functionality is now being made available to some non-Premium users as well. You can inquire about songs or locations in videos using Gemini, which is a much simpler and more effective option than using Google Lens, as I used to do.

Both of these updates are rolling out now.
