Unlike MySpace’s autoplay feature, visitors to your profile can play or pause the track as they desire.
Prior to this update, users could personalize their profiles with their name, pronouns, bio, links, and banners, but the static nature of the text and links made it less engaging.
This new update adds a dynamic element to profiles by allowing users to include music, providing a way to express their personality and share their current music preferences on the Meta-owned social platform.
The music library offers an array of artists to choose from, and users can also select a specific 30-second clip to highlight on their profile. However, Instagram restricts users to this short segment, as noted by The Verge.
To set a song on your profile, access Instagram, navigate to “Edit Profile,” and scroll down to the new “Music” section. From there, search for your preferred artist or track to feature.
To change or remove the song, return to “Edit Profile” or simply tap the song on your profile. A menu will appear, allowing you to either delete the track or choose a new one.
While music has been integrated into Instagram through Stories and feed posts, this new feature now enables users to add a song to their profile, enhancing the ability to showcase their musical taste.
