I’ve always appreciated Tribit for delivering excellent audio products at competitive prices. Over the past three years, I’ve used several of their devices without any problems. The original StormBox Blast remains a top choice for me, as its impressive sound fills any room effortlessly.
However, I transitioned to the StormBox Blast 2 six months ago, which might just be the pinnacle of portable Bluetooth speakers. Priced at $269 on Amazon—$70 higher than its predecessor—it’s certainly an investment, but the value becomes evident when you experience the volume it can produce.
The Blast 2 adopts a sleek design that’s visibly larger than the original model, weighing in at 19.18 lbs. Maneuvering this unit is quite the workout! Despite its size, I genuinely appreciate the design updates.
The RGB lighting on the sides has been streamlined into a single bar, providing a more sophisticated look. After six months’ usage, I have no complaints regarding the design or its quality. The back features an AC port for charging the internal battery, alongside USB-A and USB-C ports for charging devices at 10W.
Tribit maintains an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing you to take the StormBox Blast 2 poolside without worry. The rear ports are safeguarded by a silicone cover, and a large handle makes transporting this hefty speaker a bit easier.
For a portable Bluetooth speaker, I require three key features: intuitive controls, high-quality sound, and extended battery life. The StormBox Blast 2 checks all these boxes with physical buttons for volume and playback, plus indicators for battery life and Bluetooth pairing. If you’re looking for even greater impact, you can connect two units for a stereo experience that will certainly make an impression on your neighbors.
Regarding audio performance, the StormBox Blast 2 is incredibly loud. Featuring an 80W subwoofer, dual 15W tweeters, and two 45W mid-range drivers, it boasts a total output of 200W when plugged in, dropping to 180W on battery power—still surpassing any other portable speaker I’ve encountered.
Not only is it loud, but it’s also richly detailed; you can expect vibrant bass, commendable mid-range tones, and clear treble. Although vocals may sound slightly harsh at times, overall, the audio experience is immersive. Even at 50% volume in my living room, this speaker performs superbly, making it the ultimate choice for entertaining.
The XBass mode significantly amplifies the low frequencies, and its impact is unmistakable when activated. If the default sound doesn’t suit your preferences, Tribit’s app allows for tuning adjustable bass, mids, and treble, as well as offering sound presets.
Battery performance is impressive; on average, I found myself recharging once a week. While it doesn’t quite reach Tribit’s claimed 30 hours, I managed around 24 hours before needing to connect to a power source. Bluetooth connectivity is exceptionally stable, showing no issues with my Vivo X200 Pro, Honor Magic 7 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, or Find N5.
In conclusion, the StormBox Blast 2 fulfills all my expectations for a portable Bluetooth speaker. It effortlessly projects sound to fill medium-sized spaces, and the audio fidelity is commendable—there were no issues in this area. With an IP67 rating for water resistance and 180W sound output, it’s clear why this speaker is a standout choice for parties.
Boasting a powerful sound and impactful bass, this is the ultimate speaker for events.
