Rumors suggest Apple may be developing a unique Home Hub device that combines elements of HomePod and iPad. According to a recent report, the device may feature a more square display.
This device, internally known as “HomeAccessory” and codenamed J490, is said to be equipped with an A18 processor and a square-ish display. These details come from an unnamed source cited by 9to5Mac.
The proposed device is expected to integrate Apple Intelligence, facial recognition via a camera, and gesture control. It is positioned as a hybrid product combining the functionality of HomePod and iPad, enhanced by a more intelligent Siri.
Similar to other smart display options, users would likely place the device in a communal area like the kitchen. It could be used for tasks such as displaying recipes, streaming content, making video calls, and could be operated through voice, touch, or gestures.
Reports suggest the rumored Home Hub device could be priced around $1,000, with the robotic arm feature being the more expensive option. Apple may also offer a version with a static display at a lower price point.
There is currently no confirmation on the potential launch or announcement date for the robotic Home Hub. It is speculated to be a product slated for release in 2025 or later.
