The latest anti-theft feature from Android is now being released.

Earlier this year, Google announced the launch of an anti-theft feature for Android devices. The Anti Theft Lock is currently being tested by beta users in Brazil and will be released to a wider audience if the testing phase is successful.

This feature uses sensors to detect if your phone has been taken from you forcefully, triggering a lockdown on the device. Google explained in May that if any suspicious motion is detected, the phone screen will quickly lock, preventing thieves from accessing your data easily.

Once the feature undergoes a broader rollout, it will be available on all Android devices running on Android 10 or newer. I plan to activate this feature the next time I visit a major city – it’s always better to be safe than sorry! – @MishaalRahman
