The Galaxy S25 series is almost ready to be officially unveiled at Samsung Unpacked, which means we can expect new phones to hit the market. Additionally, this event marks the potential launch of One UI 7 out of beta, which will then be available for older phones such as the Galaxy S24 series. Although the Galaxy S24 series has been testing One UI 7 in beta, it seems like the full release is still a little ways off as a January Android update is now available for those not participating in the Android 15 testing.
According to Verizon, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will all start receiving the January Android update today. This update primarily focuses on improving security by patching up any vulnerabilities. While many were hoping for more features, it is speculated that One UI 7 may still be a month away from being rolled out.
The update will be released under the builds UP1A.231005.007.S928USQS4AXL2 for the S24 Ultra, S926USQS4AXL2 for the S24+, and S921USQS4AXL2 for the S24. Verizon has stated that the update will provide the latest Android security patches to keep the devices secure.
To check for this update, users can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and Install on their devices. Additionally, it is advised to fill out the free reserve form for the upcoming Galaxy S25 to potentially save money on the purchase.
