The ‘Charging Optimization’ feature in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 has me thinking about my electric vehicle.

If you own an electric vehicle, you may already know about the benefits of setting your car’s charge limit to 80% to extend the battery life. This same feature is now available in the newest Android 15 beta.

Google has introduced the option to limit your phone’s charge to 80% in the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2, which is recently released for supported Pixel devices. Along with the existing Adaptive charging feature, which is already present on most Android phones, there is now a new “Limit to 80%” option.

The Adaptive charging feature is designed to optimize battery health by learning your daily charging habits and maintaining the charge level at 80% until you are close to unplugging the phone. As your usual unplugging time approaches, the phone then charges up to 100%.

If you are using a Pixel device and are running the latest beta version, you can now access this new charging optimization setting.
