The cameras on the current iPhone 15 Pro Max
A recent leak has provided details on the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max cameras, suggesting higher framerate 4K video shooting, a new spatial photos mode, noise reduction, and more.
Previous reports indicated that the iPhone 16 Pro would feature the tetraprism 5x zoom lens from the iPhone 15 Pro, and both new Pro models would have similar camera systems.
However, a new report reveals that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will support video shooting at 120 frames per second in 4K, a significant improvement over their predecessors. Additionally, the ability to shoot at 120fps in ProRes 4K with external storage connected is also expected, alongside updates to QuickTake for higher resolution and various other camera enhancements.
Other rumored camera updates for the Pro models include third-party app compatibility for the Capture button, improved Photographic Styles, a new Spatial Photos mode, automatic removal of wind noise in videos, and the ability to pause and resume video recording in the Camera app.
Furthermore, Apple is said to be introducing a new image format with support for JPEG-XL, which offers both lossy and lossless compression. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled at the “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9, 2024.
