Samsung has been teasing the introduction of digital car keys since January 2021, and now Audi has joined the select group of automakers offering this feature through Samsung Wallet. Powered by ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and secured through Samsung Knox, Audi owners can now unlock, lock, and start their vehicles directly from their phone. The user interface in Samsung Wallet may appear simple, but it gets the job done efficiently. Additionally, users can share their digital keys with friends and manage access remotely. In case of a lost phone, the keys can be deleted via the cloud from Samsung Find. The rollout of digital key functionality for select Audi vehicles will begin in Europe this month, followed by a global launch alongside new Audi models. Stay tuned for more updates from Samsung.
