Samsung Wallet Adds Digital Key for Select Audi Vehicles – Samsung Global Newsroom


Audi drivers can now enjoy the convenience of a Digital Key through Samsung Wallet

Samsung Electronics today announced that Samsung Wallet now supports Digital Key for Audi,1 allowing Galaxy users2 to lock, unlock and start their Audi vehicles from a Galaxy smartphone3 — no physical key required.

Samsung Digital Key allows users to lock and unlock their vehicle and open the trunk using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE). Once in the car, drivers can start their vehicle without using a physical key or taking their phone out of their pockets. Users can also securely share the Digital Key over the air with friends or with an easy-to-use interface that lets owners grant or disable access as necessary.

 

Digital Keys are securely embedded within the device, meeting rigorous EAL6+4 security standards to protect against unauthorized access. Using ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies, a standardized communication protocol set by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), Digital Keys ensure precise functionality and significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized vehicle access.

 

Should a device containing a Digital Key be misplaced or stolen, users can remotely lock or delete their key via the Samsung Find service, further safeguarding their vehicles. With biometric or PIN-based user authentication requirements, Samsung Wallet protects the vehicle, ensuring privacy and security with every interaction.

Samsung Wallet is a versatile platform that allows Galaxy users to organize Digital Keys, payment methods, identification cards and more in one secure application. Launched in June 2022, Samsung Wallet features a seamless interface protected by defense-grade security from Samsung Knox. It integrates with the Galaxy ecosystem, providing powerful connectivity and fortified security for users in their everyday lives.

 

Availability

Digital Key functionality for select Audi vehicles will roll out starting this month in Europe,5 followed by a global rollout aligned with the launch timeline of Audi vehicles.
