Samsung has developed a new wireless charging chip that can deliver speeds of up to 50W.

Currently, OnePlus is leading the way in charging speeds with its fast wired speeds. However, with the development of technology, things could change. The Qi wireless standard, now in its second iteration (v2.2), is expected to be adopted by Samsung and Google in 2025.

Samsung introduced its new S2MIW06 wireless charging chip at CES this year, capable of speeds up to 50W. The chip supports all profiles of the existing Qi standard, including Baseline Power, Extended Power, and the newer Magnetic Power Profile. While there’s no indication that the Galaxy S25 lineup will feature this new chip, Samsung is actively working on deploying it.

The Galaxy S25 lineup is rumored to support speeds of up to 25W, which is considered fast for wireless charging. Reservations for Samsung’s new phones are currently available with savings of up to $1250.
