Review of Pixel 9: Yep, It’s as Amazing as They Say

I have eagerly awaited a phone like the Pixel 9 from Google for years. The leaks of its design earlier this year only solidified my interest. As an Android fan, I am thrilled about the four different Pixel 9 models that have been released. After using the base Pixel 9 paired with my Pixel Watch 2 for over a week, I am ready to share my review of the device.

The Pixel 9 has exceeded my expectations in terms of hardware and design. It feels premium and looks fantastic. The glass used is durable, and the new ultrasonic fingerprint reader is a vast improvement over previous models. The unique camera bar bump on the back, which some may not like, actually enhances one-handed use by providing a secure grip.

In terms of software and performance, the Pixel 9 comes with Android 14, a robust operating system that runs smoothly on the hardware. The new generative AI feature, Pixel Studio, has room for improvement but adds a fun element to creating shareable images. Gemini, another software feature, is evolving to become a replacement for Assistant in the future.

The display on the Pixel 9 is impressive, with enhanced brightness and a flat glass design that I appreciate. The battery life has been excellent, easily lasting a full day with moderate usage.

While the camera on the Pixel 9 is top-notch, the lack of a telephoto lens is noticeable and could be improved. The speakers on the device are not as loud as some may prefer.

In terms of specs, the Pixel 9 lineup offers a variety of models with different features and sizes. The base Pixel 9 offers a great balance of performance and features at a reasonable price point. Google promises 7 years of OS and security updates for the Pixel 9, ensuring longevity for the device.

Overall, the Pixel 9 is a solid smartphone option with a premium feel, great camera, and smooth performance. Google has done an excellent job with this model. The Pixel 9 is available starting at $799, a fair price for the quality it offers. If you can live without some of the premium features found in the Pro models, the Pixel 9 is a great choice.
