Malcolm has spent years perfecting his workspace to handle his work, gaming, and photography endeavors. His setup, designed primarily for working from home with budget constraints in mind, has gradually evolved over time. The central feature is a Flexispot standing desk frame with a kitchen worktop placed on top of it. Cable management has been a priority, with various elements attached to the underside of the desk.
The core setup includes an M1 Mac mini and a 1TB SanDisk Extreme SSD for storage. While functional, Malcolm is considering upgrading to a newer Mac mini in the future. Software regularly used on the Mac includes Pixelmator Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Chrome, and LibreOffice. Notable accessories include a Keychron Q8 mechanical keyboard and a Logitech G402 mouse.
Additional elements of the workspace include two iPad Pros, a number pad, a Canon EOS RP camera, various audio accessories, and a gaming PC. Surrounding the main workspace are whiteboards for brainstorming, a Meta Quest 2 VR headset, and a secondary desk for overflow items. A Noblechairs Hero gaming chair ensures comfort during long hours at the desk.
Future additions to the setup may include upgrading the Mac mini, getting a MacBook Pro for portability, improving the mouse, adding a Streamdeck for automation, and upgrading networking infrastructure to accommodate a NAS. The goal is to create a more efficient and comfortable workspace for all of Malcolm’s activities.
