Nothing “Killed” the Glyph Interface, But Probably for Something Cooler

The excitement surrounding Nothing continues to build. The company has recently announced the discontinuation of its popular Glyph interface on the upcoming Nothing Phone 3. However, it’s clear that “discontinued” might not capture the full story.

Since launching the first Nothing Phone, the brand has utilized lights on the back of its devices to notify users of incoming alerts and other happenings. In a recent teaser for the Phone 3, we glimpsed what appears to be a new feature: a dot matrix display that promises to be much more interesting and functional.

Similar to HTC’s Dot View cases from years past, the rear of the Nothing Phone 3 could showcase a variety of information using these dots. This matrix allows for the creation of numbers, letters, and shapes, making it potentially very useful. That’s the hope, at least.

The Glyph interface may be out, but the Glyph matrix is set to take its place.
