If you’re not using an MTN-branded device, you can request for MTN’s internet browsing settings (also referred to as APN settings or packet data settings on some phones) by typing the word SETTINGS as an SMS and send to 3888, free of charge.
These settings will work for you if you are using Lumia, Android, BB10 or any other modems and Phones not sold by MTN.
For handsets or other devices that need to be configured manually (e.g. most Windows-based handsets), you will need to configure the data settings on your handset with the settings information provided below:
- Account Name = MTN GPRS (this can be anything you want)
- IP Address = 10.199.212.2
- Port = 9201 (for WAP) or 8080 (for HTML)
- Username = web
- Password = web
- Access Point Name (APN) = web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
Note: The same configuration applies to GPRS and 3.5G.
