Mint Mobile eliminates data cap on unlimited plans and boosts hotspot to 10GB

Mint Mobile has announced a major change to its unlimited plan. Previously, the plan had a data cap of 40GB, meaning it wasn’t truly unlimited. However, that cap has now been removed, making the plan much closer to being truly unlimited.

In the past, Mint Mobile would reduce mobile speeds to 3G once users hit 40GB of data usage in a month. Despite claiming to offer unlimited data, this practice was common among many carriers.

With the removal of the data cap, users can now theoretically use as much data as they want. However, there is a catch. Users who exceed 35GB of data in a billing cycle may be labeled as “Heavy Data Users” and could experience slower speeds during times of heavy network usage.

While the concept of true unlimited data remains elusive, Mint Mobile has also increased the hotspot data allowance on their Unlimited plan from 5GB to 10GB per month. These changes apply to both new and existing customers on the Mint Unlimited plan.

Overall, the shift towards a truly unlimited plan is a positive step for Mint Mobile customers.
