Mini golf is a lot of fun. Most people enjoy a round with friends or family, and I have many cherished memories and experiences from it. However, real-life golf can be limiting due to budget constraints, making it too expensive for some.

In his weekly column, Android Central Senior Content Producer Nick Sutrich delves into all things VR, from new hardware to new games, upcoming technologies, and so much more.
Walkabout Minigolf is a game that solves this problem. It has been one of the best Meta Quest games for years, continuously adding new courses and updates. The game is now introducing its 28th new course, Mars Gardens, offering a futuristic experience where players are taken to a Mars colony in the not-so-distant future.
This new course follows a series of creatively designed releases, including ones themed around well-known IPs like Wallace and Gromit, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, and a surrealistic course based on the Meow Wolf art museum. The gameplay includes unique challenges like hitting the ball up a waterfall, herding sheep, launching balls from model train sets, playing in low gravity, and more.
Each course, including Mars Gardens, is only $4, allowing players to enjoy the game with friends who may not own the course. Additionally, an upcoming release of Walkabout Minigolf: Pocket Edition for iOS will enable players to enjoy the VR experience on a smaller screen and play with friends on the go.
Heading to Mars
Amidst the fascination with colonizing Mars, Walkabout’s new course, Mars Gardens, provides an immersive glimpse into life on the Red Planet 50 years after the first colony. The course, set in a bio-dome, features automated gardens with edible plants from Earth.
Each hole in Mars Gardens is meticulously crafted to tell a unique story, from harvesting wheat to whimsical encounters like pretending a space suit is a scarecrow or lounging in the kids’ area. The course incorporates fun elements like hidden balls, foxhunts, and creative challenges.
