Hands-on with Batman: Arkham Shadow: A superb Batman LARP experience, minus the unnecessary open-world distractions.

Batman: Arkham Shadow puts you in the shoes of an imperfect, angry Bruce Wayne. You can execute beat-em-up combos and track down enemies in Predator mode just like in Arkham Asylum, but with the added challenge of a first-person perspective. This immersive experience makes you feel like a more vulnerable Batman, different from the confident hero you’re used to.

Prior to the Gamescom reveal of Arkham Shadow, I had the opportunity to attend a private hands-on session with Game Director Ryan Payton and Design Director Ryan Darcey from developer Camouflaj. During this session, I got to play the first hour or so of the game.

Arkham Shadow may not be the first “AAA” Quest 3 game, but it’s evident that Camouflaj has put in the effort to translate the series’ roots into VR, creating a seamless continuation. This is not just a throwaway VR spinoff.
