Today marks a decade since the launch of Google Photos. To celebrate its anniversary, Google is unveiling impressive usage statistics alongside some exciting new features.
Curious about the scale of Google Photos? It boasts 1.5 billion monthly users who have uploaded over 9 trillion photos and videos. Each month, users conduct more than 370 million searches, share 440 million memories, and edit 210 million photos. Clearly, this service sees a lot of engagement.
As for new features, Google has revamped the Editor for faster and more efficient photo editing. “With AI-powered suggestions, you can combine multiple effects for quick edits across various tailored options or select specific areas of an image for recommended editing tools,” Google explains in its blog post.
This redesigned editor will first be available on Android in June, with iOS to follow later this year.
Additionally, Photos will introduce QR codes for easier sharing of photos and albums. Rolling out to users this week, you can generate a QR code instantly for nearby friends or print one for events like weddings and birthday parties, simplifying the collection of photos.
Happy anniversary, Google Photos!
