Currently, the Home app allows users to select “home” or “away” options for their hub, which triggers pre-set automated routines and tasks for their smart devices. However, a new “Vacation” option was discovered below these existing choices, represented by a calendar icon.
While the functionality of this feature is not yet active as it was found in an APK dive, it appears that users will soon be able to schedule daily tasks for their smart home devices to carry out automatically during a vacation. The speculated functionality also suggests that Google’s Vacation mode could simulate activities like adjusting blinds to mimic someone being home.
Despite no additions to the Automation tab as of now, the Vacation mode is expected to heavily rely on pre-created routines for smart home devices. Many details are still unknown about its full functionality.
