In December, Google and Samsung introduced the Android XR platform, giving us something to look forward to in 2025. They previewed two devices, including a headset called “Project Moohan” that Samsung plans to release in 2025, and a pair of glasses designed for daily use with an Android XR assistant.
Initially, the glasses were mysterious, but recent reports suggest that Samsung is working on them with Google. The collaboration makes sense, with Samsung focusing on hardware and Google providing the OS for the smart glasses. The release date may be pushed to 2026, but the potential of these devices is worth the wait.
While we wait for the smart glasses, Project Moohan is set to launch this year as the first Android XR headset. It offers a mixed reality experience but may not be as practical for everyday use. It’s important for Google to take their time developing the platform to compete with Meta’s smart glasses ecosystem.
