Get ready for Pixel 9’s exciting new setup process, which will soon be available on other Android phones.

When setting up a new phone, the process is often forgotten once completed. However, with the Pixel 9 series, Google has introduced a much-improved setup process that is now being extended to more Android phones. The new setup process includes a quicker initial setup and the ability to transfer data from your old device at a later time.

Powered by Google’s Android Switch app, users can choose between an “express” setup option or a more “custom” approach. The express option grabs backed-up data from the cloud and transfers other items from your old device to expedite the setup process. Additionally, a data transfer feature can be initiated later on, even after you begin using your new phone.

To transfer data later, users connect their new phone with the old device via a QR code and select which data to bring over. This feature is useful for those who want to start using their new phone right away or encountered issues during setup. Google has announced that these setup features will be available to more Android phone makers in 2025.
