Google’s Gemini assistant on Android phones has received a refreshed UI that seems to be rolling out to many users in the last 24 hours. The updated UI simplifies the overall design and incorporates a color scheme similar to Apple’s new Siri animation.
Reddit users noticed the change and shared an image of the new UI, which has transitioned from a dark box with a "Good morning" text, expandable window option, and multiple buttons, to a simpler one-row bar with fewer clickable items. The new design also features a pink and blue glowing border, drawing comparisons to Siri.
Unfortunately, not everyone has received the new UI as Google is gradually rolling out the update. Users are left to check for updates, force close apps, swipe aimlessly, and adjust settings in hopes of triggering the change, although this rarely succeeds due to the slow rollout process that has been in place for years.
You could attempt to update the Gemini app or the Google App to see if that triggers the new UI. Interestingly, being on Gemini Advanced or owning a Pixel 9 Pro does not guarantee early access to the update. Users with various Pixel phones, including those without a paid Gemini subscription, have reported seeing the new UI.
Overall, the UI switch does not introduce any new functionality, leaving users to wonder when Google will introduce new features, especially considering the investment in Google products.
