Gemini Live is set to launch on enterprise Google accounts for both work and educational purposes.

Essential Information

  • Gemini Live is now available for users in work and school settings under Google Workspace domains.
  • This feature activates automatically when Gemini access is available, provided that Gemini Apps Activity remains enabled.
  • Workspaces utilizing the Gemini Apps add-on will share their data with Google to enhance AI functionalities.

Gemini Live was initially launched for personal Google accounts last year, but users with Google Workspace accounts for professional or educational purposes did not have access. As of May 9, Google has announced that Gemini Live’s conversational capabilities are now available on the Gemini mobile app for Workspace users. This allows for real-time multimodal interactions with Gemini Live using voice, camera, or screen.

Importantly, administrators cannot limit access to Gemini Live for specific employees or students; it is automatically available when Gemini app access is granted, with no specific admin controls for the Live feature. Additionally, Gemini Apps Activity is enabled by default when Gemini app access is allowed, and users do not have the option to delete their activity manually.

Access to Gemini Live is restricted to Workspace users aged 18 and older, meaning that some student accounts may not qualify due to age restrictions. For personal Google accounts, the minimum age to access Gemini is 13.
