Gemini is finally incorporating smart home controls in the latest Teardown update.

Google continues to enhance Gemini by adding new supported services, aiming to bring it up to par with Google Assistant. While Gemini currently lacks certain capabilities, such as controlling smart home devices, the addition of services like Google Home will bridge the gap. With upcoming updates, Gemini will be able to control smart home devices, like adjusting lights and thermostats. A recent APK teardown revealed that six new services, including Google Keep, Tasks, Calendar, Phone, and Utilities, will be added to Gemini. The Utilities service will offer a general controller option for tasks like taking photos, opening applications, and adjusting device volume, making Gemini more integrated with the Android OS. Google teased features for Gemini back in May, leaving users excited for what’s to come. As we anticipate the release of these updates, it remains to be seen if they will arrive in time for the launch of the Pixel 9. Stay tuned for official announcements from Google.
