Chrome on Android Finally Allows You to Open PDFs in the Browser After All This Time

If you’re a Chrome user on a desktop, you’ve likely encountered PDFs opening directly within Chrome instead of an external application. This feature has been a convenient way to view PDFs without needing to purchase Adobe use another app for simple viewing. However, until recently, this functionality was missing from the Android version of Chrome, forcing users to rely on third-party apps like Google Drive.

Good news: in the latest version of Chrome for Android, users can now open PDFs directly in the browser. Simply find a PDF or download one via Chrome, and it will open in a dedicated tab.

For example, take a look at the Brewers Association page where their entire Craft Beer Guide opens seamlessly within Chrome. You can browse using the standard Chrome menu and even annotate the document with a built-in tool located in the bottom right corner. The annotations can be saved, allowing you to keep a copy of your notes.
