California residents who use Google Wallet now have the ability to add their driver’s license to their account. This new feature allows for added convenience and flexibility when accessing personal identification information on the go.

Google Wallet introduced driver’s license support in 2022 and has now added California as the fifth supported state. Android users in California can now add their driver’s license to Google Wallet, joining users in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, and Maryland.

To set up a driver’s license in Google Wallet, simply open the app, tap “Add to Wallet,” and select “ID Card.” Choose your state (currently only the listed 5 states are available), agree to terms, and then take photos of the front and back of your license as well as a video of yourself. Submit this information for approval by the California DMV.

Currently, digital IDs can be used for TSA, airports, and certain apps like car rental services. Enjoy this new feature, California residents!
