Two new iPad-like devices incorporating advanced Apple Intelligence features are set to launch following the long-anticipated major Siri update.
Reports indicate that Apple is developing two distinct “home hub” devices for imminent release. One is a wall-mounted iPad-like screen designed to manage smart-home devices, while the other is intended as a tabletop unit with a robotic arm.
According to a recent report from Bloomberg, both devices are currently on hold pending the delayed overhaul of Siri, which will incorporate on-screen awareness—vital for the effective operation of the smart home products.
The responsibility for completing the long-anticipated Siri upgrade has been assigned to Mike Rockwell’s team, who leads Apple Vision Pro.
These two devices are internally referred to as J490—the wall-mounted home hub—and J595, the interactive tabletop screen with a robotic arm.
The J490 is expected to be launched either late in 2025 or in the early part of 2026, and it is currently undergoing testing with internal employees.
The more ambitious J595 is anticipated to arrive in the latter half of 2026 or early 2027, though it may lack some of its innovative features at launch.
The teams are focused on delivering these products as quickly as possible after the eagerly awaited Siri upgrade is finally implemented. Apple has acknowledged delays in the rollout of the more contextual Siri, which leverages Apple Intelligence capabilities reliant on app intents.
