Apple introduces the new iMac powered by the M4 chip, featuring cutting-edge Apple Intelligence and a vibrant range of colors.
The latest iMac, acclaimed as the industry’s top all-in-one desktop, boasts enhanced performance, a new nano-texture display option, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, all within its elegantly slim design.
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Today, Apple revealed the new iMac, energized by the formidable M4 chip and Apple Intelligence, showcasing a sleek, ultra-thin profile. The M4 chip delivers up to 1.7x faster performance for everyday tasks and up to 2.1x quicker operation for intensive activities such as gaming and photo editing compared to the previous M1 model.1 Equipped with a powerful Neural Engine, the iMac stands as the premier all-in-one for AI, designed to enhance productivity, communication, and creative expression while safeguarding user privacy. The revamped iMac comes in a spectrum of enticing colors, featuring a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with an option for nano-texture glass.2 It includes a new 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports,3 and matching accessories like USB-C. Starting at just $1,299, the new iMac is now available for pre-order, with shipments set to begin on November 8.

The M4 chip significantly enhances the iMac’s capabilities. With a cutting-edge CPU, touted as the fastest in the world,4 the new iMac achieves performance up to 1.7x faster than its M1 counterpart. Users will notice this upgrade while multitasking across their favorite applications or browsing the web. The powerful GPU, featuring the latest graphics architecture, enables the iMac to handle demanding tasks like gaming and photo editing with speeds up to 2.1x faster than the M1 model. This results in a seamless gaming experience with titles such as the upcoming Civilization VII. The new iMac includes 16GB of high-speed unified memory, expandable up to 32GB. The Neural Engine in the M4 chip operates more than 3x faster than the previous version found in the M1, making this iMac an unparalleled choice for AI tasks, empowering users to accomplish more in less time.

A Transformative Era with Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence marks the beginning of a new chapter for Mac, integrating personal intelligence into the computing experience. This feature combines powerful generative models with pioneering privacy enhancements, leveraging the strength of Apple silicon and the Neural Engine to offer innovative ways for users to work, communicate, and express themselves. It will be accessible in U.S. English with macOS Sequoia 15.1. Systemwide Writing Tools enable users to sharpen their writing through rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text across various applications. The redesigned Siri enhances usability, allowing users to effortlessly alternate between voice and text input to streamline daily tasks, and it can address a vast array of queries about Mac and other Apple products. New features from Apple Intelligence will debut in December, with further enhancements rolling out in subsequent months. Image Playground introduces a fun way to craft original images, while Genmoji allows users to swiftly create customized emojis. Siri will evolve to complete tasks across the system while drawing from user-specific contexts for a more personalized experience. The latest iMac is available in an exciting selection of seven vibrant colors, including shades of green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and classic silver. The rear of the iMac showcases bold hues that stand out, while the front features subtle variations, keeping the focus on users’ work. Each iMac includes a matching Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad, all now equipped with a USB-C port for convenient charging of devices with a single cable.
New Nano-Texture Display Option
The expansive 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, the hallmark feature of the iMac, now comes with the option of nano-texture glass, designed to diminish reflections and glare while preserving exceptional image quality.2 Users can position the iMac in a variety of environments, including brightly-lit homes or commercial spaces.
Advanced Video Calls with 12MP Center Stage Camera
The new 12MP Center Stage camera, complete with Desk View, transforms video calling experiences. Center Stage ensures users are perfectly framed during video calls, ideal for family gatherings on FaceTime. Desk View utilizes the wide-angle lens to offer a simultaneous view of the user and a top-down perspective of their workspace, advantageous for educators conducting lessons or creators showcasing projects. Complementing this is a studio-quality microphone array and an immersive six-speaker sound system, enhancing both audio and video performance.
Enhanced Connectivity
The redesigned iMac features four Thunderbolt 4-compatible USB-C ports for exceptionally fast data transfers, allowing users to connect various accessories, including external storage, docks, and up to two 6K displays for a stunning workspace exceeding 50 million pixels.3 Additionally, iMac supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. With the enhanced security of Touch ID, users can swiftly unlock their computer, make purchases through Apple Pay, and download apps.6 Furthermore, Touch ID’s Fast User Switching allows seamless transitions between user accounts at the touch of a finger.
Unmatched Experience with macOS Sequoia
macOS Sequoia enhances the new iMac with numerous exciting features, including iPhone Mirroring, enabling users to wirelessly interact with their iPhone, applications, and notifications directly from their Mac.7 Safari, recognized as the fastest browser8, now includes Highlights for swiftly gathering relevant site information, a smarter Reader with a comprehensive table of contents, and a new Video Viewer for an uninterrupted viewing experience. The Distraction Control feature allows users to obscure disruptive elements on web pages. Gamers benefit from immersive advancements like Personalized Spatial Audio and enhanced Game Mode, along with an impressive lineup of titles, including the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Easier window tiling promotes organization according to personal preference. A newly introduced Passwords app offers convenient access to passwords, passkeys, and credentials, all in one place. Users can also customize their video call backgrounds with attractive built-in designs or upload personal images.
Eco-Friendly Design
The new iMac powered by the M4 chip is eco-conscious, made with 100% recycled aluminum in the stand and 100% recycled gold plating, tin soldering, and copper in various circuit boards. It adheres to Apple’s stringent energy efficiency criteria and is free from mercury, brominated flame retardants, and PVC. Notably, this year’s packaging for the iMac is fully fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to its objective of eliminating plastic from packaging by 2025.
As of today, Apple has achieved carbon neutrality in global corporate operations and aims to reach full carbon neutrality across its entire carbon footprint by the end of this decade, as part of its ambitious Apple 2030 plan.
