Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 Introduces Updated Google Search Bar

We’ve been exploring Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 for a few days, and while it’s primarily focused on bug fixes, we did notice an updated Search bar from Google.

The Search bar still features the familiar Google Search, Voice Search, and Google Lens buttons, but now it also includes an AI Mode, powered by Google Search (AI). To access this feature, you’ll need a personal Google account instead of a Workspace account, but once you do, the possibilities are extensive.

For instance, you can ask it to “Help me find introductory offers for popular gyms and workout classes,” or “Create a table comparing memory foam and hybrid mattresses.” These are just some examples of the capabilities Google highlights. The new design looks sleek and modern, whether you’re using dark mode or light mode.

What do you think of the other features in the Material 3 Expressive / Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 experience?
