- A recent leak of datasheet reveals the specifications of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
- The flagship chipset is expected to have two variants with model numbers SM8750 and SM8750P.
- The SM8750P variant is anticipated to be more performance-oriented compared to the regular variant.
Qualcomm is preparing for its next flagship SoC at the Snapdragon Summit in a few months. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is confirmed to feature a new Oryon CPU.
Following some benchmark leaks, a new datasheet (via SmartPrix) has surfaced, unveiling crucial specifications of the upcoming chipset. Notably, the chipset might come in two versions with model numbers SM8750 and SM8750P, indicating two variants of Qualcomm’s flagship SoC.
The “P” in SM8750P signifies the performance aspect, suggesting it might offer slightly better performance than the standard model, expected to power many top Android phones from Q4 2024 onwards.
Additionally, the latest datasheet confirms that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is built on a 3nm process, aiming for superior performance and power efficiency. This could be achieved through the Oryon CPU, as earlier confirmed by Qualcomm’s chief marketing officer, Don McGuire, at MWC earlier this year.
The upcoming flagship chipset is set to feature the Adreno 8-series GPU for top graphics performance and power efficiency. The new 8-series ISP will enhance photo and video experiences, while the chipset will support mmWave and Sub-6 bands as it’s a 5G-powered SoC.
Other important aspects of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 include the Low-Power AI (LPAI) subsystem with dedicated DSP and AI accelerator (eNPU) along with Qualcomm Sensing Hub (QSH) for AI enhancements. The chipset will also support FastConnect 7900 modem, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, LPDDR5X RAM, and UWB.
While the specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 show promise, we’re just a few months away from seeing the chipset in action. Qualcomm has already announced the dates for this year’s Snapdragon Summit from Oct 21-24 in Hawaii. It will be intriguing to see what the chipset maker has in store with its next flagship SoC. Xiaomi is expected to be the first OEM to include the flagship chipset in Android smartphones by the end of this year.
