PayPal now in Nigeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe…Partners First Bank in Nigeria

paypalIt is no longer news that PayPal has extended its online payment system to Nigeria, Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Monaco,Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire,  Zimbabwe, and Paraguay for the first time. Before now, these countries were completely blocked from the party. Credit/Debit cards from these countries were not allowed on the payment gateway either.

Nigeria being the largest e-commerce market in Africa is most likely to have the most significant impact on PayPal as loads of merchants and consumers had been itching for years to have PayPal extend its services to Nigeria.

PayPal in NigeriaPaypal allows you to pay merchants without exposing your card details to every seller, Paypal serves as an intermediary between you and the seller. This service is free if you are making payment but a small fee is charged for receiving. You can register here.

Paypal is in partnership with First Bank of Nigeria Plc as unveiled at the launch recently. This does not mean customers of other banks cannot use this service, customers of First Bank will only have the opportunity to open the account within their first online and have their verified automatically.

PayPal is not available to residents of Ghana yet. Ghana, with a population of about 25 million people, is a leading economy in West Africa, this should change real soon.
