macOS Tahoe 26 Empowers Mac Users with Enhanced Productivity and Intelligence

Apple has unveiled the next significant release of macOS — macOS Tahoe 26 — featuring a breathtaking new design, improved Continuity experiences through the Phone app and Live Activities, a groundbreaking update to Spotlight, and expanded capabilities powered by Apple Intelligence.

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA – Today, Apple introduced macOS Tahoe 26, which enhances the Mac user experience with powerful new features designed for productivity. The fresh design retains the beloved aspects of macOS, while infusing a more personalized, expressive, and delightful feel. Users can enjoy an updated Control Center along with new color customization options for folders, app icons, and widgets.

The Phone app now appears on Mac, allowing users to access iPhone features such as Recents, Contacts, and Voicemails, along with new functionalities like Call Screening and Hold Assist. Live Activities will keep users updated on real-time events, such as flights and ride shares.

Spotlight receives its most significant update yet, enabling users to perform hundreds of actions—like sending emails or creating notes—directly from the search interface for a more streamlined experience.

Apple Intelligence is enhanced with features that prioritize user privacy. Live Translation allows seamless communication across languages, and tools like Genmoji and Image Playground foster creativity. Shortcuts now offer intelligent actions and can utilize Apple Intelligence models to simplify complex tasks.

“macOS is integral to the Mac experience, and with Tahoe, we’re enhancing what users cherish most. From productivity enthusiasts to novices, there’s something for everyone, making Mac and iPhone collaboration more seamless than ever,” noted Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

A Visually Stunning Design

macOS Tahoe 26 showcases a refined design crafted with Liquid Glass, giving it a striking visual quality that reflects and refracts its surroundings. The menu bar is now transparent, creating an expansive display view. Additionally, users can personalize their Mac experience with vibrant new colors for app icons and folders.

Enhanced Continuity with Phone App and Live Activities

The Phone app’s integration on Mac allows forwarding cellular calls from an iPhone, featuring familiar options like Recents and Voicemails, while introducing Call Screening for unknown numbers. Users can also benefit from Hold Assist, allowing them to maintain their call position while working.

Real-time updates from Live Activities will appear in the Mac menu bar for efficient monitoring of events, such as flights or sports scores.

Major Spotlight Overhaul

Spotlight’s redesign enables users to discover files, folders, apps, and more, all displayed together and ranked by relevancy. With advanced filtering options, users can quickly find specific content without switching apps. New functionalities allow users to execute multiple actions directly from Spotlight.
