Apple Transforms the iPhone Experience with iOS 26

Key features include a stunning new design, enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities, and upgrades to Phone, Messages, CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA — Today, Apple introduced iOS 26, a major update that enhances the user experience with a fresh design, intelligent features, and improvements to essential apps. The new look offers a more vibrant and engaging interface across the system while preserving the familiar usability of iOS. Built with privacy in mind, the upgraded Apple Intelligence enhances capabilities for users to stay connected while minimizing distractions from unwanted calls. iOS 26 also adds exciting features to CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, and introduces Apple Games—an all-in-one hub for gaming.

“iOS 26 dazzles with its beautiful new design and significant enhancements to features that users depend on daily, making the iPhone more helpful than ever,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. “From the Lock Screen and Home Screen to the revamped Phone and Messages apps, experiences are now more personal and expressive. Plus, the powerful new Apple Intelligence capabilities make it easier to accomplish tasks than ever before."

A Stunning New Design
The new design enhances app and system experiences, maintaining the instant familiarity that users have come to love. Incorporating a new translucent material known as Liquid Glass, this design allows for greater focus on content and infuses vitality into app icons, controls, and widgets. Users can expect personalized and expressive customizations for app icons and widgets.

On the Lock Screen, the time dynamically adjusts to fit the space in an image, and spatial wallpapers create a 3D effect that responds to the user’s movements. Updates are also visible in the Camera and Photos apps for a more intuitive experience, as well as a redesigned tab bar across Apple Music, News, and Podcasts that puts content first.

Advanced Capabilities with Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence enhances the iPhone experience by simplifying communication and screen interactions. Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone allows users to communicate seamlessly across languages, translating text and audio in real-time, ensuring privacy and data security.

Visual intelligence expands users’ capabilities by allowing them to search and take action on what’s displayed on their screen. Users can inquire about images or products directly from their screen and even receive suggestions for events based on what they see. New expressive tools like Genmoji also allow users to create customized avatars and images.

Additionally, Shortcuts have become smarter with intelligent actions and customization options, while order tracking emails will gather details all in one accessible place.

Enhanced Connectivity and Reduced Interruptions
The Phone app now features a unified layout for easier access to favorites, recent calls, and voicemails. Call Screening combines with Live Voicemail to help users manage calls effectively. Messages have also been upgraded, allowing users to filter messages from unknown senders into a separate folder for more control over their communication.

iOS 26 introduces group chat enhancements, including custom backgrounds and the ability to conduct polls, with intelligent suggestions powered by Apple Intelligence.
