Today, Google announced the rollout of the first minor update during the Android 16 QPR1 beta testing phase on the Android Developer site. The Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 update brings 10 key fixes for common bugs, particularly targeting unexpected crashes and issues with user interface graphics. This rollout comes as Android users eagerly anticipate the public release of Android 16, which is expected shortly.
Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 is designated with version number BP31.250502.008.A1 and has an update size of around 7MB to 8MB. Some users are experiencing longer update and restart times, despite the small size of the update.
The update is compatible with Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, and Pixel Tablet. If some users are unable to install it on their Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, there’s no need for concern—Google does not differentiate between the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL in its updates. An update for the Pixel 9 Pro XL is expected to be released eventually.

Enrolled Google Pixel users in the Android Beta Program will receive the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 as an over-the-air update. To check if the patch is available for your device, open the Settings app and navigate to the System section. From there, select Software update followed by System update. You can tap Check for updates, and once it’s available, follow the prompts to install the update.
