Another model from the Galaxy S25 lineup is on the horizon, and new rumors indicate it might see an upgrade.
According to reports from Galaxy Club (Dutch), Samsung appears to be planning a long-awaited improvement for the anticipated Galaxy S25 FE (via SamMobile). The “FE” signifies “Fan Edition,” which traditionally offers a more budget-friendly option compared to Samsung’s flagship models. Yet, sources from the publication hint that the S25 FE will enhance its selfie camera to 12MP.
This change could allow users to capture “better selfies,” as noted in the report.
Moreover, this rumor positions the Galaxy S25 FE’s selfie camera on par with its flagship counterparts. However, there are hesitations regarding its overall quality since the “FE” model aims to be more cost-effective.
Current Developments
The flagship Galaxy S25 series is equipped with a 12MP camera. After reviewing the base S25 model, there isn’t much to rave about. The front camera performs adequately, offering a satisfactory selfie experience, but it isn’t revolutionary. If the Galaxy S25 FE follows this trend, we may already have an idea of what to expect. Nonetheless, the upgrade is appreciated, considering Samsung has not improved its FE series selfie camera for a few generations.
Conversely, details about its rear camera system remain unclear. The S24 FE includes a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto lens. There is always hope for enhancements here, particularly with the telephoto lens, but don’t expect any major changes soon. Samsung often retains the same hardware for extended periods before making updates.
Earlier rumors indicated that Samsung could partner with MediaTek for the Dimensity 9400 SoC for the S25 FE. It seems the company may have initially wanted to use its in-house Exynos chip, but unexpected production challenges have led to this alternative. MediaTek’s chip is robust and serves as a counter to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Current rumors suggest that Samsung may debut the Galaxy S25 FE in the “second half” of 2025.
