Gemini introduces a new feature today that allows users to create AI videos with just a brief description. This feature, known as Veo 2, is being hailed as a significant advancement in video generation by Google.
Initially, Veo 2 will be accessible to Gemini Advanced users, who can find the option in the drop-down menu on the Gemini web portal. Users can quickly create videos like the one below, featuring a cat playing with a ball of string. The processing time is minimal, resulting in a cute and engaging video.
Google describes Veo 2 as a tool for producing high-resolution, detailed videos with cinematic quality. The videos are 8 seconds long, in 720p resolution, and available in MP4 format with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The file size for a video created using Veo 2 is approximately 4MB.
Creating a video with Veo 2 is straightforward – users simply describe the scene they want to create, including creative style preferences such as realism, fantasy, or cartoon. The generated videos can be easily shared on platforms like YouTube Shorts or TikTok, or downloaded for personal use.
Gemini Advanced subscribers can access Veo 2 starting today, with a gradual rollout over the next few weeks. To check if you have access, visit gemini.google.com and look for the “Veo 2” option in the dropdown menu.
