Android may soon introduce an AI-powered notification summary feature.

Google is currently developing a new feature for Android called Notification Summaries, as seen in the latest beta for Android 16. This feature will use on-device AI to summarize communication-based notifications into a single notification that is easier to read. For example, if you receive multiple messages on WhatsApp, Notification Summaries will provide a single notification summarizing all the messages.

Although it is unclear when this feature will be officially launched, it is currently being tested by Google. Users will have the option to enable Notification Summaries and choose which apps to include or exclude from the summaries. Unlike a similar feature on iOS, Notification Summaries is only designed for communication apps such as Messages, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

It is speculated that this feature may not be released with Android 16 but could be included in a quarterly update or saved for Android 17. As AI technology continues to advance, features like Notification Summaries will become more common in our everyday devices.
