Contrary to speculation, the iPhone 17 Air is set to be released with a USB-C port.

The original plan for the future iPhone Air was to rely solely on wireless charging.

Initially, Apple had intended to introduce the iPhone 17 Air as the first completely wireless model, but it seems that decision has been reversed.

A recent report suggests that Apple had considered releasing a port-free version of one of its future iPhones, specifically the iPhone 17 Air. However, Apple has since opted to include a USB-C port for charging.

It is believed that this decision was made in response to concerns raised by European Union regulators.

According to the weekly Power On newsletter from Bloomberg, Apple initially experimented with a thinner model of the alleged iPhone Air featuring a 6.9-inch screen, but abandoned the idea due to fears of potential bending issues.

Apple has reportedly settled on a design for the iPhone Air with a 6.6-inch screen, making it approximately two millimeters thinner than current iPhone models, reducing its thickness by about one fifth.

Despite the slimmed-down design, the iPhone Air is expected to offer similar battery life to other iPhone models thanks to a new battery design.

The thinner and lighter iPhone Air is anticipated to be unveiled as part of the iPhone 17 lineup in the fall of 2025.
