When can I expect my phone to receive the Android 16 update?

Android 16 is arriving earlier than usual, with the initial preview build now available on select Pixels. This change in strategy from Google is aimed at having the latest Android version ready before hardware announcements, resulting in Android 16 being released just a month after Android 15. This move will ensure more devices come with the latest Android version pre-installed, reducing the delay in updates for mid-range phones.

If you have a Pixel 6 or above, you can install the Android 16 beta now, but it’s not recommended as there are no visible changes aimed at end users yet. Over the next few months, Google will add features to Android 16, making it worth considering for Pixel users. Until then, Android 15 remains the better choice.
