Apple’s many internal projects culminated in the development of the upcoming AI assistant Siri.

Developers can soon share on-screen content with Siri through upcoming APIs from Apple Intelligence. With the recent release of new documentation, developers are gearing up for Siri to have a better understanding of context and be able to utilize information from the content on the screen. This will make Siri more useful, allowing users to ask questions about web pages, objects in photos, or even have documents summarized or emails completed by the virtual assistant. Apple’s previous iOS 18.2 beta already included some of these features with ChatGPT integration, but the new developer API aims to streamline this process further. Apple’s focus on artificial intelligence was evident even before the announcement of Apple Intelligence at WWDC, with research on document understanding and text generation. The upcoming Siri features are expected to arrive with the iOS 18.4 update in 2025.
