- WhatsApp has introduced two new features to the platform, taking inspiration from Instagram.

- Users can now like WhatsApp Statuses in general.
WhatsApp introduced Status updates some time ago, similar to Instagram Stories. It provides a fun way to connect with friends and family by sharing short videos or photos that disappear after 24 hours. Now, the feature has been updated to enhance the user experience.
According to a recent blog post from WhatsApp, users can now receive likes on their Status updates, with a look and feel similar to Instagram Stories.

Users can now reshare their friends’ WhatsApp Status updates if they are mentioned privately, a new feature on the messaging platform.
In line with WhatsApp’s signature green color, the like/heart button for reactions will also be green. These likes will remain private.
“Status likes are private and don’t have a counter, so only the person whose status you liked can see them as a in the list of viewers,” as mentioned in the WhatsApp blog post.
With mentions, WhatsApp users can tag close friends in their Status updates, allowing them to repost the Status if desired. The mentioned person will receive a private notification, and the mention will not be visible to others on the user’s contact list.
These new features were previously tested and are now being rolled out globally. Both Android and iOS users can expect to see the update soon.
Recently, WhatsApp also introduced another feature similar to Instagram Stories: the ability to share longer video status updates. Previously limited to 30-second videos, users can now share up to one-minute videos, aligning with Instagram’s capabilities, as both platforms are owned by Meta.
